CABAM Annual Business Trip: 2027 - New York City

Business, Technology, Media, Design, Culture, Food, and Food!

CABAM is headed back to New York City in 2027! We’ll explore the companies that make it such an important business and technology hub and immerse ourselves in the communities and culture that make New York the most diverse city on earth. Along the way we’ll see all the famous sights and neighborhoods! (This is a joint trip with students from the Center of Advanced Technology (CAT) at Lakewood High School, and the Center for Technology, Entertainment and Design (CTED) at Osceola Fundamental High School)

TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrival into NYC, Brooklyn, and Stonewall

• Morning flight from Tampa to maximize your day in NYC
• Meet Mitch, your local NY-er and full-time tour director at the airport. 
• Lunchtime at Time Out Market in Brooklyn
• Time to look at the bustling technology, design and business hub of Dumbo, Brooklyn! We’ll have a special talk in the Navy Yards then walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Along the way we’ll see the incredible structures and companies that have been built along New York’s waterfront, ushering in a new community of technology companies.
• Hear about Stonewall and Greenwich Village
• Enjoy Shopping and Dinner at Chelsea Market
• Walk the High Line to the Hudson Yards to see the bustling new business development where we’ll learn about what it takes to develop a new business district in NYC.
• Ascend a skyscraper and step out onto The Edge, NYC’s highest outdoor observatory.

Day 2: Technology and Business in NYC

• Learn how to Make Your Own Bagels and hear about the Business of Bagels in NYC.
• Technology, Business & Design Career Roundtables – We’ll meet some New Yorkers in various fields to pull back the curtain on their experiences working in those careers.
• Enjoy a scatter lunch during the break between meetings.
• Experience Disney on Broadway’s Workshop – The Business of Broadway
• Have a group dinner in the Times Square area.
• See your First Broadway Show

Day 3: Financial District (FiDi) / Lower Manhattan

• Enjoy breakfast like a New Yorker
• Take the ferry and Visit the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island
• Scatter for lunch in the Financial District
• Discover the Financial District and see iconic sites like the Charging Bull, Wall Street, Stock Exchange, and the Fearless Girl.
• Stop and reflect at the 9/11 Museum and Memorial
• Enjoy a Group Dinner in NYC.
• See your Second Broadway Show!

Day 4: Central Park and Midtown Manhattan

• Enjoy breakfast like a New Yorker
• Take a walk up 8th Avenue and through Central Park, where you will have the opportunity to Ice Skate!
• Walk down 5th Avenue and see the Rockefeller Center, where you’ll hear about the Business of Ice Skating. After – enjoy lunch in the area
• After lunch, head to the Lower East Side and enjoy small group tours at The Tenement Museum.
• Wander to Chinatown and Little Italy, where you’ll enjoy guided walking tours and dinner for the rest of the evening.

Day 5: NBC Experience & Departure

• Enjoy breakfast like a New Yorker
• Enjoy the morning in small groups at the NBC Studio Experience, and see nearby areas before and after your tours. You’ll enjoy lunch in the area once again today.
• Guided Motor Coach Tour of NYC – A great way to get one final look at this enormous city! We’ll use a bus to explore the varieties of neighborhoods, making little stops along the way at places such as: the Little Island, Harlem, Grant’s Tome, and others (specific stops may vary)
• Finally, head back to the airport and board your flight home to Tampa.

About YOUR group leader

Mitch is the owner of the company and will be your tour guide. He has over 20 years of experience leading student tour groups around the world. He is a graduate of the University of Paris-Sorbonne, with majors in History and Philosophy, and runs a tour guide training school called TripSchool. He’s the author of four travel guidebooks for New York City, Boston, and D.C., and is in demand as an international travel industry speaker. He lives in Brooklyn, NYC.

• We encourage you to pay by bank transfer, which is extremely easy to set up. The tour price is based on paying directly from your bank; paying by credit card will incur an extra 2.9% fee (charged by the processor).

• To cover you for the unforeseen, we encourage participants to purchase travel insurance, which may include benefits for trip cancellation, trip interruption, missed connection, travel delay, medical expense/emergency evacuation, baggage and personal effects, baggage delay and more. 
• Covid-19 and its various strains are treated the same as any other Sickness under the travel protection plan.
